TRAUMA WORKSHOP
CMHS’S The National Center for Trauma-informed Care (NCTIC) knows that those with a lived experience of emotional and physical violence can recover and heal if provided with effective treatment strategies that directly addresses what happened.
Find out:
• What exactly is trauma, how does it affect individuals and how prevalent is it?
• What is trauma-informed care and how does it work?
• How are trauma-informed systems of care created for Human Services?
• What are the chances for a meaningful recovery and healing if trauma is properly treated?
The presenting speakers:
Tonier Cain – Nationally renowned speaker, trauma survivor, and heroine of the award-winning documentary about her life called “Healing Neen”. Tonier, who survived childhood abuse, neglect, unrelenting violence, hunger and despair as well as 66 criminal convictions due to drug addiction, is now Director of Peer Specialists, SAMHSA Promoting Alternatives to Seclusion and Restraint through Trauma-Informed Practices.
