Judy Dubois
Judith Dubois is a dedicated pioneer in peer and community mental health services with over three decades of leadership. Her passion for community-focused social justice led her to HALI in the 1990s by way of a simple newspaper ad for work at a grassroots consumer-run mental health advocacy group on the grounds of Kings Park State Psychiatric Center. She has been a trusted leader and an unwavering champion of the organization’s values ever since. For Judy, HALI is more than a workplace—it’s a community, built on compassion, resilience, and a belief in each other.
Judy played a critical role in the development and evolution of some of HALI’s most impactful programs, including the first Long Island Walk for Mental Health, the first peer-run mental health clinic in the U.S., and the launch of the first Mobile Shower Unit in New York State.
In her current role as Senior Director of Community Services, Judy oversees the agency’s Supportive Housing and Forensic Peer Bridging programs. She is passionate about expanding access and knocking down barriers to safe, stable housing and community connections for everyone.
Beyond HALI, Judy serves as Co-President of the board for the Alliance for Rights and Recovery (formerly NYAPRS). Her work is anchored in a deep connection to Long Island’s recovery movement and a lifelong commitment to social justice.
