Brendan Foley

Brendan Foley brings more than a decade of leadership to his role as Senior Director of Recovery Services at HALI. With a strong belief in recovery influenced by lived and professional experience, Brendan oversees HALI’s renowned Central Islip community recovery center, centered on building community inclusion and person-centered wellness.

Brendan’s path to peer leadership has been shaped by a diverse professional background that includes roles as a teacher, paralegal, legislative aide, and counselor. He holds dual Master’s degrees in Mental Health Counseling and History from Queens College and is a Certified Peer Specialist. His clinical training began at Zucker Hillside Hospital, where he became the facility’s first peer supervisor and later served as a vocational counselor in its PROS program. He went on to direct peer services at Goodwill NY/NJ, leading teams focused on supportive housing and employment outcomes.

At HALI, Brendan has expanded essential services such as meals, clothing, and pantry access, the MYBody physical wellness program, and the spearheading outreach to Spanish-speaking and underrepresented communities. He centers community voice in program planning and is committed to building recovery systems rooted in dignity, accessibility, and lived experience.

Brendan lives in Bayside, Queens, with his wife Michele and their cat Erie Guardless. He is a lifelong Yankees fan, a lover of jazz and classic rock, and an avid reader and wrestling enthusiast. His daily 80-mile commute to HALI reflects his deep commitment to peer-driven advocacy and recovery leadership.
